Two northbound lanes of MacArthur Boulevard in Newport Beach were closed briefly following a traffic collision Wednesday afternoon. A gardening truck and a Mini Cooper collided just before 4 p.m. north of San Joaquin Hills Road, Newport Beach Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella said. The Mini Cooper driver suffered non-critical injuries and was transported to a trauma center for treatment, Manzella said. The gardening truck's two occupants were not hurt. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Fordham Drive : Misdemeanor spousal abuse was reported in the 2400 block at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday.

An 81-year-old Newport Beach man was killed in a traffic collision Friday morning in Irvine, authorities said. The crash occurred before 7:30 a.m. near University and Michelson drives. Westbound lanes along University Drive, between Michelson and Ridgeline drives were closed while police investigated until about 3:30 p.m., said Lt. Tom Allan. The man was pronounced dead at the scene from traumatic injuries, Allan said. The 34-year-old driver of the second car was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana with non-life-threatening injuries, Allan said.

A bicyclist who was critically injured in a Newport Beach traffic collision earlier this week died Wednesday, police said. Debra H. Deem, 58, of Laguna Beach, was riding a bicycle west on East Coast Highway when she and a white minivan collided just east of Newport Coast Drive, according to a news release from the Newport Beach Police Department. She was wearing a helmet but suffered major head trauma in the crash, said police, who received a call about the incident at 4:27 p.m. Tuesday.
