Steve Virgen Steve Crenshaw never had the benefit of youth soccer, while growing up in the Victorville area, but he still made an effort to learn more about the game. Crenshaw, the Estancia High boys soccer coach, played pick-up soccer games near his neighborhood in Victorville. It wasn't until college he actually competed in organized soccer. That's when his passion for the game took on a new life and, eventually, he would become a coach for the Eagles and lead them to a CIF Southern Section Division IV championship.

Tony Altobelli CORONA DEL MAR - The biggest thing Estancia High boys soccer coach Steve Crenshaw worried about was a letdown in Friday's Pacific Coast League clash with host Corona del Mar. Unfortunately for the Sea Kings not even a wrapped-up league title could deter the Eagles from their fast aggressive play, which resulted in a 4-0 triumph. "If we manage to score a couple early, we're pretty dangerous," Crenshaw said. "My main concern was that we wouldn't come out focused, but we just refuse to let up. Our team sees the big picture.

Barry Faulkner LA MIRADA - Ever-confident coach Steve Crenshaw believes neither rain, top-seeded Bishop Montgomery, nor a less-than-ideal playing surface, can keep his Estancia High boys soccer team from its appointed goal: a CIF Southern Section Division IV championship. However, before the second-seeded Eagles (19-1-1) square off with the Del Rey League champion Knights (21-2-3), Saturday at 10 a.m. at La Mirada High, Crenshaw voiced his objection to the venue.

Fans began to chant, "Si se puede!" and the Estancia High boys' soccer team never lost hope. The Eagles trailed by one late in the semifinals of the CIF Southern Section Division 5 playoffs and they kept fighting. Time was running out on the Eagles against Baldwin Park on Tuesday. Their coach, Robert Castellano, raced to the fence to track down a ball with 5 minutes left, trying to save time to give the Eagles another chance to tie the match. He then turned to the home crowd, the biggest to see his team play during his five seasons in charge.

SANTA ANA - One point is all that separated Estancia High from first-place Godinez in the Orange Coast League. The two boys' soccer teams met on Tuesday and the one-point deficit in the standings turned into four. The host Grizzlies distanced themselves from Estancia on Tuesday and they moved closer to repeating as league champions after a resounding 4-0 win at Centennial Regional Park. The Eagles' league title hopes are dashed. They had to become the first team this season to defeat Godinez to have a chance at the league crown, their first in four seasons.

West, just a sophomore, is part of a soccer program on the rise after several years of being in the dumps. With up-and-coming stars like West, Estancia ? under former Eagles' boys' soccer coach Steve Crenshaw ? broke through this year and appears ready to burst next season since so many of its top players are underclassmen.
