Young Chang The last day of the Chiapuzio's trip to Colorado was the prettiest because it snowed really hard and what started as gentle snowfall became a snowstorm, said Kymberly Chiapuzio of Corona del Mar. She, her daughter Chelsea and her husband Tony visited Aspen, Colo. last month to ski, dog sled and skate in an outdoor rink for a week. Kymberly Chiapuzio went to school in Colorado Springs and says she just "has an affinity for the place." For her 6-year-old's first adventure skiing, she wanted to bring the family back to her old city, where five other relatives met up with the trio.

JUDY KEARNS BECKNER    April 7, 1929 - February 21, 2013 Judy Kearns Beckner passed away peacefully in her home on February 21, 2013.  She was predeceased in death by her husband Robert Kearns, and her second husband Charles Beckner. Judy is survived by her sons, Kevin (Allison), Jeff Kearns, and Greg Kearns, and two grandchildren Bobby and Katie Kearns.  She also leaves behind her sister, Marcia Powers, who resides in Dayton, WY, and step-daughters, Susan McDougal, Washington and Abbe Dewitt, China.

Christopher John Myers Darling July 21, 1971 - July 20, 2011   Christopher died unexpectedly on July 20th with his family by his side. He had somehow contracted necrotizing fasciitis (flesh eating bacteria) and it shut down his body very quickly to the shock of everyone.   Christopher was born in Newport Beach in 1971 and grew up on Balboa Island. He was an avid sportsman during his life. Junior All American and Corona del Mar High School Football, skateboarding, skiing, snowboarding, fishing and most of all surfing.

Gaddy-Schmidt Mr. and Mrs. Charles Griffen of Balboa Island announce the engagement of their daughter, Shannon Gaddy of Newport Beach, to Todd Schmidt of Fallbrook. The bride-elect graduated from Corona del Mar High School and Cal State Long Beach. The future groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Schmidt of Fallbrook, graduated from Fallbrook High School and the University of San Diego. A Nov. 9 wedding is planned at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Fallbrook.

UC Irvine senior golfer Mike Lavery has been named to the 2003 Verizon Academic All-District VIII men's at-large third team. Lavery, a psychology and social behavior major, led the Anteaters to their third straight Big West Conference championship this season by winning the individual title with a 36-hole score of 6-under par 138 (70-68). He had four top-10 finishes this season and was UCI's top performer at the NCAA West Regional Championships with a 32nd-place finish of 221 over three rounds.

Lloyd, William (age 65) It is with tremendous sadness that we announce Bill’s passing on July 1st. He is survived by his loving wife, Victoria; his sons, Chad, Brenden, Brad, Kevin; step-children, Nick, Alexis and son-in-law Eric; grandchildren, Cassidy and Harmony and his siblings, Richard, Greg, Thomas and Lori. The son of Mary Kay and Frank Lloyd from Pasadena, who enjoyed forty years on Balboa Island. Bill won the “Flight of the Snowbirds” in 1959 and was Commodore of B.I.Y.

Barbara Munroe Applebury died May 18, 2010, in Fullerton after a long illness. She was with her beloved husband John Applebury. She is now at peace in heaven. Barbie Munroe was born in Pasadena in 1953 and enjoyed an active childhood full of love, music, art, sailing, tennis, water sports and skiing. She was popular in school and loved to entertain her friends and family. She attended Corona del Mar High School after her family moved to Balboa Island where they had always summered.
