South Coast Plaza will host one the world's largest international orchid shows today through Sunday. The Fascination of Orchids International Show and Sale fills all three levels of the Carte & Barrel/Macy's Home wing at South Coast Plaza. "Pathway to Orchids" is the theme, and it will feature more than 65 of the world's renowned orchid growers, as well as more than 100 orchid displays and exhibits. This is the 21st anniversary for the show; it started as a small exhibit and grew to be one of the largest in the world.

Aloise-Mooney Heidi-Anne Aloise and Mark Mooney, Corona del Mar residents, exchanged wedding vows poolside at the bride's parents' home in Philadelphia, Penn., on June 15. The bride, daughter of Frank and Anne Aloise (formerly of Bedford, N.Y.), wore a white satin gown with a full train and veil and carried a white orchid bouquet arranged by her mother. Her maid of honor, Genta Hawkins, and her bridesmaid, Heidi Reinhard, each wore Hawaiian orchid leis and carried white and purple orchid bouquets.

The best one-day orchid sale is happening today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Green Systems International. The orchid selection is amazing; there are thousands of blooming orchid plants. The prices are the lowest in town at $5, $10 and $15. Everyone will love this sale. They are the city's only commercial orchid nursery, and they sell at wholesale prices. Where's The Party is celebrating its 10-year anniversary today from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event will include special savings for customers, such as free balloons, drawings, and free popcorn.

The show features more than 100 exhibits and more than 60 of the world's most respected orchid vendors participate. More than 100,000 beautiful orchids will transform South Coast Plaza's Crate and Barrel/Macy's Home Store wing into a tropical paradise. Co-chairs Tony Glinskas and Roberta Fox called it the largest and most spectacular orchid show in the Western Hemisphere.

The Newport Harbor Orchid Society's 2011 Orchid Expo and Sale opens Friday morning in the JCPenney wing at the Westminster Mall — off the San Diego (405) Freeway at Bolsa Avenue — and goes through Sunday evening. The expo, the society's 10th annual orchid expo and the second one to be staged at the mall in Westminster, will showcase thousands of orchids in bloom from all over the world, according to information posted on the NHOS website. Professional orchid growers will be on hand, and the expo will also feature free culture workshops and repotting classes.

Roberta Fox is devoted to her roommates. She recently moved from her Costa Mesa apartment to a larger house just blocks away to accommodate the 900-member Orchidaceae family living in her home. The orchids started moving in about 10 years ago when she attended her first orchid show after receiving a cymbidium plant from a colleague. Every year since, Fox has served as the co-chair of the annual Fascination of Orchids show — now on display at the Orange County Fairgrounds — eager to share the message that anyone can grow orchids, and "you don't need a gazillion-dollar greenhouse to do it."

Annual Fascination of Orchids show moves from South Coast Plaza to the Orange County Fairgrounds this year. Sixty international vendors are expected to be on hand. The location may have changed, but the fascination remains the same. "If you were a bug, wouldn't you love this? I would," self-described orchid fanatic Susan Hamilton said Wednesday while setting up her flowers for this weekend's Fascination of Orchids international show. After more than a decade at South Coast Plaza, the world famous show has relocated to the Orange County Fairgrounds.

Nasir Jiwa More than 30,000 orchid plants from nearly 10 countries spanning four continents will be flaunting their flowers for orchid enthusiasts this weekend at South Coast Plaza. The largest orchid show in the United States -- and the second largest in the world after Tokyo's show -- "The Fascination of Orchids" typically attracts more than 100,000 visitors. The event's organizers hope to dispel the myth that orchids are only found deep in the tropics.

The world's most beautiful orchids are on display through Sunday at the 23rd annual Fascination of Orchids International Show & Sale, hosted by South Coast Plaza. Enthusiasts know that its one of the most esteemed and largest orchid shows in the country. About 60 of the most prestigious orchid vendors, more than 100 stunning orchid displays and 30,000 of the finest orchids are here. This year's theme, "Orchids and Wine," ties in perfectly with the Newport's only winery, Newport Beach Vineyards and Winery, whose label is an orchid.
