UC Irvine's men's soccer team was a 1-0 winner over visiting New Mexico Tuesday night at Anteater Stadium as Dardo Acuna came through with a goal in the 46th minute off an assist from Anthony Vizcarra. The Anteaters, now 5-4-2, handed New Mexico only its second loss in 10 starts. JC MEN'S SOCCER: Bucs win, 3-1 Miguel Ochoa, Joel Sotolongo and Bobby Dulle each scored for the visiting Pirates, as they defeated Cypress, 3-1, in an Orange Empire Conference soccer game Tuesday.

ALBUQUERQUE - The UC Irvine men's golf team finished 22nd in the NCAA West Regional that concluded Saturday at the University of New Mexico championship course. The Anteaters' 54-hole team score of 902 was 30 shots off the pace of New Mexico and Washington, which tied for the top spot. UCI shot 1-over 289 in Saturday's final round, tied for the sixth-best team score of the day. UCI junior Mike Lavery shot par 72 Saturday to make his three-round total 221, good for 34th.

Don Cantrell Rear Adm. Jim Seely, (USN, ret.) and his lovely wife, Gail, were pleased to be visiting Albuquerque, New Mexico, in early May for a reunion with one of Seely's former Navy fighter pilot squadrons. He spent 34 1/2 years in the Navy before returning to a retirement pass. Seely, Class of 1950 at Newport Harbor High, and one of Al Irwin's '50 swimmers, also had golf in mind with his former mates, but was amused at his first day on the University of New Mexico course.

Jennifer K Mahal In soft shades of gray and harsh curves of black, photographer Todd Webb gives us entrance into the New Mexico world of Georgia O'Keeffe. The 39 photographs on display until January at the Orange County Museum of Art's Satellite Gallery in South Coast Plaza span nearly 30 years of the famed painter's life -- from 1955 to 1981. "In Webb's photos of New Mexico, we see the landscape and O'Keeffe through the eyes of another artist," Sarah Vure, curator at the Newport Beach-based museum, said of "Georgia O'Keeffe: The Artist's Landscape," An O'Keeffe painting and its subject capture Webb's lens in one photograph.

COSTA MESA - Lindsay Doyal and Megan Godfrey won alone and together for the Vanguard University women's tennis team in Friday's 6-3 nonconference loss to Western New Mexico University. Doyal won, 6-1, 6-2, while Godfrey prevailed, 6-4, 6-4 in singles' competition for Vanguard (0-7). The Lions' duo teamed up for an 8-6 win on the doubles' side. The Lions will resume Golden State Athletic Conference action March 11 at noon with a home contest against Westmont College.

That is the questions prosecutors are preparing to answer in the case that has shocked this community, which the couple called home. Nearly three years have passed since Bechler, 32, and his wife, Pegye were seen motoring from the Newport Harbor on a powerboat. The Bechlers were celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary.
