HUNTINGTON BEACH — More than 100 volleyball fans went to a bookstore to see Misty May-Treanor serve up more than balls. She can be one funny act, even at a Barnes & Noble on a Tuesday night in Huntington Beach. Mostly teenage girls, mothers and grandmothers sat in chairs, on the floor, and some stood while listening to May-Treanor's every word. Most often than not, they laughed before lining up to get May-Treanor to sign her autobiography, "Misty: Digging Deep in Volleyball and Life."

When April Ross walked onto the runway Sunday night, she showed swagger as she pulled out a camera to take a photo of her friends behind her, that would be Misty May-Treanor and Steve Timmons. May-Treanor followed with a silly bit, too. She danced like Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta did in "Grease," and swirled her make-believe lasso. Timmons had a little breakdance move, it appeared, as he also modeled on the runway. It was all silly and fun, and to raise money for their favorite high school sports program at the OC Mix in Costa Mesa.
