Unbeaten Corona del Mar High, top-ranked in Orange County, champion of the Pacific Coast League and the No. 1 seed in the CIF Southern Section Division V boys tennis playoffs, dominates the coaches' All-PCL selections with eight honorees. Cameron Ball, a junior, was PCL singles runner-up this year, after winning the league singles crown as a sophomore. He is joined on the first team by teammates Brian Morton and Garrett Snyder (singles), as well as Peter Kulmaticki, Michael Bean and Randy Myers (doubles)

HUNTINGTON BEACH - Corona del Mar High juniors Michael Bean and Peter Kulmaticki won their Round of 16 match Friday in the CIF Southern Section doubles championships, then lost in the quarterfinals at SeaCliff Country Club. Bean and Kulmaticki, doubles champions of the Pacific Coast League, knocked off Elson Huang and Dennis Jung of Upland in the Round of 16, 6-2, 6-2, then lost to second-seeded Brian Swatt and Ray Hekmat of Beverly Hills, 6-2, 6-2, in the quarters.

LAGUNA BEACH - Corona del Mar High's boys tennis team posted a 14-4 victory in Pacific Coast League play at Laguna Beach Tuesday, led by the singles sweep of Michael Bean. SANTA BARBARA - A day after a disappointing loss to Brentwood High, Corona del Mar's boys tennis team, ranked No. 3 in CIF Southern Section Division I, destroyed host Santa Barbara, 14-4, Saturday. CdM's Cameron Ball only dropped one set at No. 1 singles. He was outdone by the doubles team of Randy Myers and Michael Bean, who were perfect in all three sets, 6-0. CORONA DEL MAR - After a setback at University, Corona del Mar High's boys tennis team got back on track with a 15-3 wallop of visiting Costa Mesa Thursday in a Pacific Coast League match. Justin Ning and Shaan Wadhwa swept in singles for the Sea Kings (13-4, 4-1 in league). CdM's doubles squad of Peter Kulmaticki and Michael Bean only dropped one game in a three set sweep. CdM's Josh Stuart and Jay Reed also won three sets in doubles. Raphael Bernard and Marvin Lam each won a set in singles for Mesa.

FULLERTON - The Corona del Mar High boys tennis team had little trouble in Wednesday's 15-3 nonleague win over Sunny Hills at the Sunny Hills Racquet Club. Sophomore Garrett Snyder improved his singles record to 15-0 with a 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 sweep. Junior Cameron ball lost only two games in three sets to improve to 15-2. On the doubles' side, Peter Kulmaticki and Michael Bean (6-4, 6-2, 6-1), along with Sean Wadhwa and Ryan Stockwell (6-4, 6-3, 6-1) also swept.

Garrett Snyder teamed up with Randy Myers to sweep in doubles (6-3, 6-4, 6-2), as did the team of Peter Kulmaticki and Michael Bean (6-2, 6-1, 6-2). Tony Altobelli CLAREMONT - Corona del Mar High boys tennis coach Tim Mang called the first Sea Kings-Brentwood showdown on March 13, "an unbelievable match." And that was just a nonleague tilt four matches into the season. Seventy-eight days later, the two powerhouses meet once again in today's CIF Southern Section Division V finals at the Claremont Club, beginning at 11:30. The adjectives, as well as the level of tennis, should be at an all-time high.

IRVINE - In a showdown for the Pacific Coast League boys tennis championship, it came down to counting games Monday as undefeated Corona del Mar High edged host University after a 9-9 standoff in sets. Coach Tim Mang's Sea Kings, ranked No. 1 in Orange County, beat the Trojans in games, 79-73, to remain perfect in PCL play (9-0), while improving to 17-0. Uni fell to 13-5, 7-2. When the Sea Kings defeated the Trojans earlier this season in the first round, 12-6, Uni was playing without its top two players, Henry Mak and Aaron Yovan.
