Looking for a happy hour that you can actually make it to? A number of local restaurants provide just that for those who can’t make it out in the early evening. The Daily Grill at Fashion Island holds its Late Night Happy Hour from 9 to 11 p.m. every Friday and Saturday. On the weekdays, the restaurant’s happy hour runs from 3 to 7 p.m. and features appetizers starting at $2.95. The Yard House at Fashion Island also has a Late Night Happy Hour, from 10 p.m. to midnight Sunday through Wednesday.

Costa Mesa Pop Warner will have a fundraiser Monday at Skosh Monahan's Steakhouse & Irish Pub in Costa Mesa. Monahan's, located at 2000 Newport Blvd., will donate 20% of all sales to the Costa Mesa Pop Warner program. The fundraiser will take place 4 p.m. to close. There will be Happy Hour all night. Raffle tickets will be sold for many prizes, including a Disney fun package. Former USC players are expected to be in attendance, including Sam "Bam" Cunningham. Live music provided by Ricky Lewis is also scheduled.

Young Chang A spinning ceiling fan makes you wonder for a second whether it's the beach breeze swooping by. The ocean's right there, a hint of water is carried east by a subtle evening breeze, and the illusion seems real. A pigeon flutters from one end of the top patio deck to the other, weaving from strappy high heels to suede men's sandals, and boats named Belle and Patriot glide by as if on cue. There's more. Servers in Hawaiian-print shirts and khaki shorts shuttle turkey sandwiches stacked inches high from the bar to the tables.

Billie Jean Bell, a long time resident of Orange County, retiring in Cathedral City, CA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9 with her family by her side. Billie was born November 17, 1926 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.  She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  Billie left behind her husband Joe of 57 years, her brother Don, her sisters Lola and Norma, 5 children, 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.   Billie always put her children before her, yet she was still the boss.

Andrew Breitbart, the conservative commentator whose website broke the sexting scandal involving Rep. Anthony Weiner, is scheduled to appear as a guest speaker in Newport Beach tonight. Possible 2012 congressional hopeful Mike Munzing will host Breitbart as part of Conservative Happy Hour from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Tea Room at the Newport Beach Golf Course, 3100 Irvine Ave., according to his website . Munzing said Thursday morning that he is not sure exactly what time the commentator would arrive.

Dick?s Sporting Goods will celebrate its grand opening at Fashion Island this weekend with a personal appearance by NFL legend Ronnie Lott from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The daylong celebration will begin at 9 a.m., when wristbands will be handed out to the first 250 people, one per person, to meet Lott at 1 p.m. Giveaways will begin at 9 a.m. while supplies last, and visitors can register to win a $1,000 shopping spree. There will also be grand opening specials throughout the store.

A couple of local restaurants are offering new Happy Hour deals. Britta’s Cafe in University Center in Irvine is offering half-off drinks and free snacks from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. On Wednesdays you can really save money with the restaurant’s gourmet hamburgers with pomme frites and Caesar salad for $14. Britta’s Cafe is near Edwards Theater across from UC Irvine at 4237 Campus Drive. For details, call (949) 509-1211. Taco Rosa in Newport Hills shopping center, 2632 San Miguel Road, Newport Beach, is offering a marathon Happy Hour from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., except on holidays.
