WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL Orange Coast def. Cypress COSTA MESA - Freshman outside hitter Karlee Riggs recorded 20 kills to lead the Pirates to a 25-16, 25-19, 22-25, 25-14 Orange Empire Conference win Wednesday night. Dana Nicholson posted eight of OCC's 16 aces. Andi Frisina added four aces to go along with her 12 digs, while Nicholson matched Frisina with 12 digs as well for the Pirates (10-2, 4-1 in conference). Setter Allison Lumsden dished out 37 assists for Coast, while middle blocker Morgan Link contributed nine kills.

WOMEN'S GOLF Nevada tournament DALTON, Nev. — UC Irvine freshman Sarah Baek finished third individually to help the Anteaters finish second at the Wolf Pack Classic, completed Tuesday at the Dalton Valley Golf Club. Baek, playing in her first collegiate tournament, shot 76 Tuesday after posting a 69 to gain the lead on Monday. UCI senior Lalita Patipaksiri was seventh (151) and freshman Michelle Yang tied for 10th at 152. Sophomore Ronnie Valerio was tied for 17th at 154. The Anteaters shot 304 on the final 18 holes and their 602 score over 36 holes was four shots behind San Francisco.

SOFTBALL Cal Baptist 8, Vanguard 0 RIVERSIDE — Senior Angela St. Croix went one for two with a double Wednesday, but the Lions were swept by the top-ranked Lancers in the best-of- three semifinal series in the Golden State Athletic Conference Tournament. Kimberly Skoglund and Adriana Venezia each had hits for Vanguard (26-32). The Lancers (57-3) advanced to the tournament championship series and will play the winner of the Azusa Pacific-Concordia semifinal series.

MEN'S GOLF Orange Empire Conference four-way SANTA ANA — Mike Squillace and Lyon Lazare both shot one-under-par 71 to help Orange Coast (371) top Saddleback (376), Cypress (394) and Riverside (403) Wednesday at Santa Ana Country Club. It was Saddleback's first loss in conference this season. OCC (11-2 in conference) remains in second place in the OEC with one conference match remaining in the regular season. BASEBALL Doubleheader COSTA MESA — The Lions rallied to win the first game in a split with Golden State Athletic Conference visitor Fresno Pacific on Thursday. FPU won the second, game, 5-1. Jacob Domingos, Bryson Rahier and Brandon Pesante all had two hits on the day for the Lions (16-19, 12-12 in conference). Mike Leal (five hits and two runs in eight innings) earned the Lions' pitching victory. WOMEN'S TENNIS UC Irvine 6, Loyola Marymount 1 IRVINE — Becka Kwan and Hannah Holladay earned straight-set singles wins and combined to win their doubles match as well for the host Anteaters in the nonconference match Thursday.

BASEBALL UC Irvine 8, Cal State Northridge 5 IRVINE — The host Anteaters completed a sweep of the Big West Conference-opening series with the Matadors on Sunday. UCI (18-6, 3-0 in conference), ranked No. 16 in the USA Today/ESPN poll on Monday, is tied for first with Cal State Fullerton. The 'Eaters, who have won four straight, visit San Diego today, before beginning a three-game conference series at Fullerton on Friday. Senior third baseman Brian Hernandez went three for five with one run batted in to pace UCI's nine-hit attack.

SOFTBALL Doubleheader COSTA MESA — Freshman Rachael Hellyer tossed a six-inning no-hitter in Game 2 to key a sweep for host Vanguard University over Patten on Friday. Hellyer strick out seven and walked one in an 8-0 Vanguard victory. Vanguard won the first game, 5-3. Amanda Young went four for four in two games, while Kari Bergerson, Angela St. Croix, Jennifer Nelson and Adriana Venezia had three hits apiece in the two games for the Lions (6-5)
