COSTA MESA - Vanguard's Becki Huddle scored 19 points, 15 from free throws, and dished out nine assists as the Lions (14-2, 3-0 in conference) fought off Fresno Pacific Saturday in a Golden State Athletic Conference game. The win gives Vanguard 45 in a row at home. Kelly Boeke also scored 19 and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Lions before fouling out. SANTA CLARITA - The Vanguard University baseball team won its second straight game, knocking off the host Master's College, 7-6, Saturday, in Golden State Athletic Conference action. Despite losing a 6-2 seventh-inning lead, the Lions (6-25) pushed the go-ahead run in the eighth for the win. Tim Jara, Bryan Davis and James Dent each drove in two runs for Vanguard, while Ryan Williams threw two shutout innings of relief to earn the win. SANTA BARBARA - Vanguard University's baseball team lost a tough Golden State Athletic Conference matchup to host Westmont College, 3-2, Tuesday afternoon. Joshua Case (Orange Coast College) threw eight solid innings, allowing only one earned run on nine hits with four strikeouts for the Lions (4-18, 2-14 in conference). After three walks in the bottom of the 10th inning, John Whipp's two-out single brought in the winning run for Westmont (12-9, 9-6)

BASEBALL Doubleheader SANTA CLARITA — Alec Rosales had a pinch-double to drive in the game-winning run in the top of the ninth inning of the visiting Lions' 3-2 win over The Master's in the first of two Golden State Athletic Conference contests Thursday. TMC prevailed, 14-1, in the second game as Vanguard's record is now 18-16, 8-14 in conference. David Kiriakos had two hits and one run batted in in the first game, in which Vanguard teammate J.T. Truhett was two for four.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL UC Irvine def. Hawaii HONOLULU, Hawaii — The No. 2-ranked Anteaters completed the sweep of two Mountain Pacific Sports Federation weekend matches late Saturday night. Junior Kevin Tillie and senior Carson Clark each had 10 kills, while Tillie hit .643 and had a team-best 10 digs. UCI improved to 9-2, 5-2 in conference. Hawaii is 6-7, 3-5. BASEBALL Orange Coast 3, Southwestern 3 CHULA VISTA — The nonconference game Saturday was halted after 14 innings after OCC failed to hold any of its three one-run leads.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL Orange Coast def. Cypress COSTA MESA - Freshman outside hitter Karlee Riggs recorded 20 kills to lead the Pirates to a 25-16, 25-19, 22-25, 25-14 Orange Empire Conference win Wednesday night. Dana Nicholson posted eight of OCC's 16 aces. Andi Frisina added four aces to go along with her 12 digs, while Nicholson matched Frisina with 12 digs as well for the Pirates (10-2, 4-1 in conference). Setter Allison Lumsden dished out 37 assists for Coast, while middle blocker Morgan Link contributed nine kills.

WOMEN'S GOLF Nevada tournament DALTON, Nev. — UC Irvine freshman Sarah Baek finished third individually to help the Anteaters finish second at the Wolf Pack Classic, completed Tuesday at the Dalton Valley Golf Club. Baek, playing in her first collegiate tournament, shot 76 Tuesday after posting a 69 to gain the lead on Monday. UCI senior Lalita Patipaksiri was seventh (151) and freshman Michelle Yang tied for 10th at 152. Sophomore Ronnie Valerio was tied for 17th at 154. The Anteaters shot 304 on the final 18 holes and their 602 score over 36 holes was four shots behind San Francisco.

SOFTBALL Cal Baptist 8, Vanguard 0 RIVERSIDE — Senior Angela St. Croix went one for two with a double Wednesday, but the Lions were swept by the top-ranked Lancers in the best-of- three semifinal series in the Golden State Athletic Conference Tournament. Kimberly Skoglund and Adriana Venezia each had hits for Vanguard (26-32). The Lancers (57-3) advanced to the tournament championship series and will play the winner of the Azusa Pacific-Concordia semifinal series.

MEN'S GOLF Orange Empire Conference four-way SANTA ANA — Mike Squillace and Lyon Lazare both shot one-under-par 71 to help Orange Coast (371) top Saddleback (376), Cypress (394) and Riverside (403) Wednesday at Santa Ana Country Club. It was Saddleback's first loss in conference this season. OCC (11-2 in conference) remains in second place in the OEC with one conference match remaining in the regular season.
