ORANGE - Dennis Rodman hasn't rebounded from his personal and financial woes. The former NBA star, whose loud parties once riled his Newport Beach neighbors, made an appearance Tuesday at the Lamoreaux Justice Center, where he faced possible jail time for unpaid spousal and child support. However, the 50-year-old saw his sentencing moved to May 29, pending a court decision in which is his attorney, Linnea Willis, is seeking to vacate the ruling on four counts of contempt of court.

Former Newport Beach resident and NBA star Dennis Rodman was sentenced to 104 hours of community service and three years of informal probation in Orange County court Tuesday after being found guilty of contempt for failing to pay child support, a court official said. "Rodman also must pay current child and spousal support, and he still owes hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional back child support,” the official said. Rodman still has to settle any remaining disputes over child support and an additional contempt charge when he appears in court June 22, the official said.

Rodman has been going through out-patient treatment with a private counselor for almost a month, said Darren Prince, his New Jersey-based agent. West Newport's notorious party host made the decision to enter rehab when he was slapped with a DUI last month in Las Vegas, his agent said. Rodman, a frequent visitor to the colorful city, hit a pole while trying to pop wheelies on a borrowed motorbike outside a strip club.

Greg Risling Former NBA superstar and Newport Beach resident Dennis Rodman was arrested Friday morning at an upscale Miami Beach hotel, along with his estranged wife Carmen Electra, after the two were involved in a physical altercation, police said. The couple, who were divorced earlier this year, were charged with misdemeanor battery and were taken to Miami-Dade County Jail where they were booked. Rodman, a power forward and rebounding king for several NBA teams, is in the fast-paced beach town shooting a movie called "Cut Away."

You asked readers to recommend a potential solution to the noise problem of specific residents -- such as Rodman -- whose parties force having Newport Beach police to be dispatched. I would suggest that the Newport Beach City Council pass a noise ordinance that would record the number of times the police are dispatched to a specific residence during the course of a year. The first occurrence would carry a warning. The second occurrence would impose a citation and appropriate fine to cover the complete cost of the police being dispatched.

Dennis Rodman pleads not guilty Dennis Rodman pleaded not guilty on Monday to charges of drunk driving, reckless driving and obstruction of justice after a motorcycle accident outside a Las Vegas strip club in October. The West Newport resident did not appear in Las Vegas Municipal Court. His attorney, Karen Winckler, entered the plea on his behalf. The 42-year-old Rodman, who is trying to make a comeback to the NBA by playing with the Long Beach Jam of the American Basketball Assn.

Dennis Rodman's arraignment on two misdemeanor charges was postponed yet again on Monday to Oct. 25. The former NBA star was charged with disturbing the peace in his Seashore Drive neighborhood and using loud amplifiers without city permits on May 12, the eve of his 40th birthday. Rodman also tried to land a helicopter on a public beach that day. He also faces speeding tickets for exceeding speed limits while boating in Newport Harbor and is being investigated by the Newport Beach Police Department for discharging a fire extinguisher at a man in Hooters restaurant on Coast Highway.

No one likes to be the punchline of a joke. Sometimes it makes someone want to punch back. Jack Kayajanian, whose law firm is based in Costa Mesa, did not appreciate the joke I made him out to be as part of my column on Dennis Rodman and his child-support case last week. Jack defended himself, defended his stance and took exception to some of the things I wrote. He's the lawyer for Michelle Rodman, Dennis' third wife. Michelle, who has two children from Dennis, lives in Costa Mesa.

ORANGE - A disheveled, chubby, out-of-breath lawyer walked into a family courtroom tugging at two boxes of files on a dolly. Sounds like the start to a joke, but to NBA Hall of Famer and former Newport Beach resident Dennis Rodman, Jack Kayajanian, his ex-wife's lawyer, was no laughing matter. "You guys are working me," Kayajanian said, trying to be humorous. Rodman rolled his eyes and calmly responded, "No, you're working me, bro. " Rodman was mostly referring to a highly charged, and mostly false, press release Kayajanian sent to the media Monday.

Former NBA star Dennis Rodman faces up to 20 days in jail Tuesday for failure to pay spousal and child support, according to an attorney for his ex-wife. The Hall of Fame player, whose years as a West Newport resident drew the ire of neighbors and the attention of police, is scheduled to appear at a contempt of court hearing Tuesday in Orange. As of March 1, Rodman, 50, owed $808,935 in back child support for the 9- and 10-year-old children that he had with his third wife, Michelle Rodman, said her attorney, Jack Kayajanian, in court documents.

The woman, whose name has not been released, filed a sexual battery complaint against Rodman Sept. 16. She alleged Rodman slapped her on the buttocks at Hennessey’s Tavern in Dana Point. The woman dropped her complaint against Rodman earlier this week, said Jim Amormino, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

PUBLIC SAFETY A week after Newport Beach masseur Steven Wesley Lovell was charged with sexually assaulting a client, authorities reported that more women alleged that he attacked them. Lovell, who owns the massage business Care of the Body, 215 Riverside Ave., pleaded guilty in 1999 to three counts of misdemeanor sexual battery.    Costa Mesa police fielded a report that a customer was held up at about 9 a.m. Monday outside a credit union. Costa Mesa police arrested Anthony Maldonado, 25, of Huntington Beach, on suspicion of armed robbery and possession of stolen property, but they could not immediately say if he was the suspect in Monday’s holdup.
