BRIEFLY IN THE NEWS Man arrested after chase, crash, chase A 24-year-old Garden Grove man was arrested early Thursday morning after police were led on a short pursuit that ended when the driver crashed into the wall of a Ferrari dealership, police said. Officers took custody of Paul Gordon Benjamin and booked him on suspicion of stealing a vehicle, evading police, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana, Costa Mesa Lt. Dale Birney said.

Alicia Robinson The Orange County Sanitation District will begin construction in mid-January on two projects costing more than $2 million to update sewer operations on the city's northeast side. The project includes abandoning two sewer lines on Watson Avenue between Loren Lane and Dublin Street, construction of a new line to serve some residents in that area and replacement of a line on Gisler Avenue. The work will cost $2,375,000 and should take nine months, sanitation district project engineer Larry Rein said.

Local students will soon be able to earn college credit from a private university in Los Angeles County while completing high school courses in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District. During a study session of the district's school board Tuesday, Charles Hinman, assistant superintendent of secondary education, introduced a partnership with Marymount California University in Rancho Palos Verdes that would allow juniors and seniors to concurrently enroll in high school classes and college courses covering mostly the same material.
