Orloff, the Big West Conference Player of the Year and winner of the Brooks Wallace Award that goes to the nation's top shortstop as a senior in 2009, retired 41 games into his fifth minor-league season in the Houston Astros' organization on June 7. BASEBALL UC Irvine 6, Washington 3 SEATTLE — Four Anteaters pitchers held the Huskies hitless through eight innings in the deciding game of a three-game nonconference series completed Sunday at Husky Ballpark. Starter Reid Suitor went five innings, walking four and striking out three, to improve to 3-0 and give the Anteaters (12-4-1) their fourth straight weekend series victory. Chris Lopez, Thomas Calahan and Eric Pettis combined for three hitless innings, before Andy Lentz tripled in the ninth off Blair Erickson to ruin the no-hit bid. Erickson surrendered one earned run, but closed out the win, which dropped Washington to 2-8.
