It took her five years to finish the 62-page book, but now that it’s complete, Julia Ciaccio is already thinking about her next project. Ciaccio, a Corona del Mar resident, recently self-published, “Julia’s Ultimate Guide to Tailgating and Celebrations.” Ciaccio, who has become something of a tailgating maven as she follows her son and the UCLA football team, published the book to tell people the absolute necessities of tailgating. Ciaccio’s lists of must-haves include no-brainers — like the grill — but thinking to pack a car battery charger could be considered a less obvious necessity.

A woman who alleged former NBA star and part-time Newport Beach resident Dennis Rodman spanked her in a Dana Point bar has declined to move forward with the case and has refused to press charges, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said Friday. The woman, whose name has not been released, filed a sexual battery complaint against Rodman Sept. 16. She alleged Rodman slapped her on the buttocks at Hennessey’s Tavern in Dana Point. The woman dropped her complaint against Rodman earlier this week, said Jim Amormino, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
