KAREN WIGHT Everything that Chef Mila creates is spectacular. Her salads, main courses and desserts are amazing. Basically, if she cooks it, I'll eat it ... and love it. I do, however, have a soft spot for appetizers. Karen's ultimate dinner would consist entirely of hors d'oeuvres. I like a little bit of everything, or sometimes a lot of everything. Chef Mila has a few new appetizer recipes just in time for holiday entertaining. I have tasted these creations, and they are good -- very good.

Fortunately I didn’t have my heart set on sushi when I walked into Hashigo Korean Kitchen. I was driving down Bristol Street and saw the familiar name. Immediately I flashed back to one of my favorite sushi bars in Huntington Beach. Owned by the same people, same name, but my thoughts of popping in and getting some fresh sashimi and exotic rolls wasn’t going to happen. This is Korean-based, and I remembered the conversation I had with one of the sushi chefs at the Huntington Beach location.

The reputation Hooters has as being a sanctuary for misogynists is not a mantra the chain restaurant lives by or encourages. It really kind of pokes fun at the whole sexist image. The company's slogan, "Deliciously tacky, yet unrefined," is meant as a joke, and those who go there regularly get it. I mean, where else would you find a restaurant that offers a $179.99 gourmet chicken wing dinner, which is the same wings it usually serves, but accompanied by a bottle of Dom Perignon champagne?

Given our mobile nature, it's no surprise that one of the more popular forms of dining is "grazing;" hopping from restaurant to restaurant sampling appetizers and cocktails, and then moving on to the next stop.
