March 28, 2014

Costa Mesa police arrested a 54-year-old man Thursday evening after he allegedly threatened a city resident with a knife near 19th and Pomona streets.

An officer was patrolling the area about 6:30 p.m. when he heard yelling and saw two men arguing.

One man was standing and pointing a knife at a 60-year-old Costa Mesa resident who was seated at a nearby bus stop, according to a news release from the Costa Mesa Police Department.

"Fearing a stabbing was about to occur, the officer acted quickly and detained the suspect with the knife," police said in the release.
