Wilson, a pointer terrier mix. (DiAnna Pfaff-Martin )

Wilson is a pointer terrier mix who has been a longtime resident of the Orange County Humane Society, and recently Newport Beach Animal Control Officer Valerie Schomburg rescued Wilson from the shelter.

His overactive, exuberant personality, coupled with mouthy playfulness, was being misunderstood at the shelter and was putting him at risk. Wilson is being boarded now, but it isn't the same as having a home for the holidays.

Wilson is just 18 months old and never tires of chasing a ball or a Frisbee or even jumping in the water and swimming. Training has helped Wilson contain his youthful exuberance, and he is crate-trained too. But he still needs a yard to run and play in to bring out his goofy side.

The perfect home for Wilson is with an active individual, or a family that enjoys its backyard and has experience with active dogs. His liveliness is attributed to his young age and a mix of three very active breeds that need a lot of exercise.

Community Animal Network has been asked to help find Wilson a home, so if Daily Pilot readers know someone who would love a dog like Wilson, please call (949) 759-3646 or email contact@animalnetwork.org.

Even a temporary foster family with a yard would be wonderful to get Wilson out of a kennel. Wilson's adoption comes with a training package and has a 30-day return policy. See other animals for adoption on the web at http://www.animalnetwork.org.

Our Fashion Island pet adoption event will be closed this Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

This holiday, please consider making a donation to help local animals! Community Animal Network, P.O. Box 8662, Newport Beach, CA 92658, memo, "help local animals," Tax ID 33-0971560.
