The city of Costa Mesa is looking for applications for its new military banner program that recognizes active-duty service members with at least six months of continuous service.
The honoree must be in the U.S. Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy or National Guard.
The banners can also honor a service person who's a spouse, mother, father, daughter, son, brother, sister, grandson or granddaughter of a Costa Mesa resident, according to a city news release.
"Our goal is to honor and recognize those men and women who are currently serving our country and call Costa Mesa home," city CEO Tom Hatch said in a prepared statement.
