Corona del Mar High graduate Tumua Anae will attempt to become the third local athlete to win a gold medal at the London Olympics on Thursday.
Anae, a backup goalie on the U.S. women's water polo team, will help the Americans battle Spain in the gold-medal game. The two teams, both 4-0-1 in the tournament, played to a 9-9 tie in group play.

The U.S, men's volleyball team that won a gold medal in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, was eliminated in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, falling to Italy, 28-26, 25-20, 25-20.
