Charter being finalized for submission

August 08, 2012

The Costa Mesa City Council plans to call an emergency meeting to finalize changes to a proposed city charter going before voters in the general election.

The changes to the charter summary and council resolution approving the charter for the November ballot are almost exclusively related to grammar or the elimination of redundant language.

Friday is the deadline to submit the proposed charter for the November ballot. The city originally aimed to put the charter — a city constitution by another name — on the June primary ballot but missed the filing deadline.

The meeting is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Council Chambers, 77 Fair Drive.
