NEWPORT BEACH — Freshman Reese Stalder swept at No. 1 singles to help the host Sailors clinch a berth in the CIF Southern Section playoffs on Tuesday.
Senior Troy Arnold won two of three sets at No. 3 singles and seniors Matthew Searcy and Logan Friend won two of three sets at No. 3 doubles for the Tars (11-6, 6-3 in league).
The Sailors, who can finish either second or third, complete the regular season with a Sunset League match against Fountain Valley on Monday.

CORONA DEL MAR — Freshman Chaz Downing grabbed the Sea Kings' lone win in singles during the Pacific Coast League match that featured the top two teams in CIF Southern Section Division 1 Tuesday.
Downing beat won, 6-2, over freshman Aresh Hafezi of University, ranked No. 1 in CIF Division 1.
In doubles, Alex Murray and Henry Gordon won two out of three sets for CdM (16-3, 7-2 in league), ranked No. 2 in CIF Division 1.
