Irvine now allows flash drive submissions for planning documents [Corrected]

April 14, 2012

Irvine residents can submit plan check documents on something other than paper beginning Monday, according to a news release.

In an effort to save residents time, money and resources — plan check documents are often hundreds of pages long — submissions for building and grading projects can be transferred by DVD, CD or flash drive.

The change will streamline the process for architects, engineers, developers, design firms and construction professionals, while cutting administrative costs for the city, according to the release.

FOR THE RECORD:
An earlier version incorrectly stated that Irvine residents could submit planning documents to the city website using flashdrives, DVD and CD. Residents must submit the flashdrives, DVD and CDs in person at the city planning department.

Submission requirements are listed at http://www.cityofirvine.org.
