COSTA MESA — Newport Beach resident Carsten Ball and partner Andre Begermann were outlasted in a marathon doubles championship match at the Costa Mesa Pro Classic tennis tournament Saturday.

Nicholas Meister and John Peers outlasted Ball and Begermann, 6-3, 6-7(1), and 17-15 in a tie-breaker. Meister and Peers battled back from a 5-1 deficit in the tie-breaker to deny Ball, the former Corona del Mar High standout.

Ball and Begemann earned $472.50 and 15 ATP points each for the runner-up showing.

In singles, No. 4-seeded Brian Baker and No. 5 Gregory Oullette easily advanced to Sunday's championship match.

Baker ousted unseeded Joshua Zavala, 6-1, 6-2, and Oullette topped Takanyi Garanganga of Zimbabwe, 6-1, 6-2.

The singles championship is scheduled for Sunday at 10 a.m. The event is free and families are encouraged to attend.
