A group of girls were able to turn lemons into lemonade, and a lemonade stand into a booming business when they raised more than $1,000 for health organizations Feb. 4.

National Charity League Juniors' participants fanned out to six different Newport Beach locations and were able to raise the triple-digit dollars for High Hopes Head Injury Program, Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation and Orange Coast College's Harry and Grace Steele Children's Center, according to NCL spokeswoman Frania Black.

NCL Jr. was founded in 1963 to promote charitable endeavors in philanthropy and cultural activities, and 60 women with daughters participate in the Newport Beach chapter, Black said.
