College Roundup: Sando third in high jump

New Mexico Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — UC Irvine completed day one of the invitational at the Albuquerque Convention Center Friday.

Kelsi Sando tied for third in the high jump with a height of 5-foot-2 ¼ and Sakia Sailinuu was sixth in the 600-meter run in 1 minute, 39.81 seconds.

Marie Brashears placed seventh in the 600 meters (1:41.28), Maggie Newton-Neal was eighth (1:41.55) and Chelsea Schneider 10th (1:41.73).

Lacey Surak was sixth in the long jump (15-0 ½), Itos Aikhionbare finished eighth in the weight throw (40-11 ¾) and Sanmisola George placed 17th in the 200 meters (25.80).

The meet concludes Saturday.

Fullerton 62, Orange Coast 39

COSTA MESA — Ashley Engeln finished with nine points and four rebounds in the Pirates' Orange Empire Conference game on Friday.

OCC (10-14, 2-5 in conference) trailed, 34-20, at halftime.

Fullerton 88, Orange Coast 74

COSTA MESA — Will Ligon and DJ Coleman each had 11 points for the Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference game Friday at OCC.

Eric Stockstill and Jason Payne added eight points each for Orange Coast (7-16, 2-5 in conference).

Gregory Bewernick scored a game-high 19 points for Fullerton (8-13, 5-2).
