'The Inside Edge'

Danny Cox, a former Air Force fighter pilot and author of several books, will headline "The Inside Edge — A Breakfast Forum," which starts at 6:30 p.m. at the University Club, at the corner of Los Trancos and East Peltason drives in Irvine. First-time attendees pay $35. To reserve a seat, go to

The Sherman Library & Gardens and Café Jardin will offer "High Tea in the Gardens," featuring a menu of tea, pastries, fruit and sandwiches, with seatings at 2:30, 2:45 and 3 p.m. Cost is $29 per person, not including tax and tip. 'Conversations on the Artistic Process'

The Claire Trevor School of the Arts at UC Irvine presents "Musical Composition as Experiment (and vice versa)," a free event in which various UCI academics will discuss their research. The event is from 5 to 6:15 p.m. in the Colloqium Room on the third floor of the UCI Contemporary Arts Center building.


PIMCO Chief at UCI

Mohamed A. El-Erian, chief executive and co-CIO of Pacific Investment Management Co., will give the inaugural UCI social sciences lecture at 6 p.m. in Pacific Ballroom C at the UCI Student Center. The event will be free and open to the public.
