Article: Irvine gets best-run city nod

Irvine was ranked as the second best-run city in the nation on a scale that ranked the role of government and access to jobs within the 100 largest U.S. cities, according to an article by 24/7 Wall Street.

Irvine was noted for having the fifth-lowest crime rate on the list, with a violent crime rate of just 0.55 per 1,000 people.

The poverty rate was the ninth lowest at, 12.3%, and the second highest high school graduation rate was second highest at of 95.7%, according to the investment online publication's article.

The article also citied Irvine as among the best in unemployment and housing vacancy numbers and median income.

Irvine fell just behind Virginia Beach, Va., which has a population of 439,172, compared to Irvine's 212,982. The worst-run city on the list was Miami.
