COSTA MESA — A four-car crash sent two people to the hospital Monday afternoon, police said.

The crash near Orange Coast College happened about 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Fairview Road and Merrimac Way, said Costa Mesa Police Department Lt. Mark Manley.

One of the vehicles crashed into a light pole; another required two people to be extracted from the car by firefighters, Manley said.

They sustained moderate injuries and were taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.
