GUADALAJARA, Mexico —- Former UC Irvine All-Americans Jeff Powers and Tim Hutten each scored fourth-quarter goals to lead the United States men's water polo team to a 7-3 win over Canada in the championship game of the Pan American Games on Saturday.
With the victory, Team USA earns a berth in the 2012 London Olympics.
Hutten converted a power-play goal with 4:16 left in the final quarter for a 6-2 lead and Powers scored with 2:34 remaining for a 7-2 margin.
UCI alum Ryan Bailey did not score on two shot attempts Saturday.
All three former Anteaters scored seven goals apiece at the Pan Am Games.
