Morning Boost

The Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce hosts its 90-minute Breakfast Boost from 7 to 8:45 a.m. at the Costa Mesa Country Club, 1701 Golf Course Drive. Prepaid reservations are $15. They can also be made at the door for $20. To make reservations, call (714) 885-9090.

Vegetarian and Vegan Diets

Dr. Andrew Weil and Chef Michael Stebner will give a 2:30 p.m. talk and presentation at True Food Kitchen, Fashion Island, about the health benefits of vegetarian and vegan diets. Jeffrey Toobin

The Newport Beach Library Foundation presents a talk and book signing by CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin at the Central Library branch, 1000 Avocado Ave., Newport Beach. Hurley Reception

An opening night VIP reception for "Considered," an art show presented by Hurley, Nike and the Otis College of Arts and Design, is from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hurley's H Space Gallery, 1945 Placentia Ave., Costa Mesa. Food and drinks will be served at the event, which is free and open to the public.


'2011: A Space Odyssey'

One Big Tree

South Coast Plaza's 2011 Christmas Tree will be arriving by truck from Mt. Shasta and will be hoisted up between 7 and 10 a.m. at Town Center Park, 686 Anton Blvd., Costa Mesa.

All About Owls

The Little Naturalist program at the Environmental Nature Center will give an outdoor class about owls for children ages 3 to 5. Children will have an opportunity to touch owl wings and talons.
