Axton is a sixth-grader at Kaiser Elementary in Costa Mesa.
"I'm proud to represent my hometown at these races that were held in our own backyard," Axton said. "I look forward to defending my title at next year's events."
Axton competes in a 125cc go-kart that is capable of speeds over 90 mph. In his first year as a junior, Axton has captured second place in the Pro-Kart South Regional Championship, one of the most competitive series in the country.
With a good finish in the upcoming Grange Motor Circuit he will also capture second place in the International Karting Federation Western Regional Championship, also a huge accomplishment for an 11-year-old, sixth-grader racing with high school kids.
"I would also like to extend a sincere thank you to my coaches, team, sponsors, friends and family, and especially mom and dad," Axton said. "Without the help of these people I would not have had the success or opportunities I have had this year."
