Gorab Brown bound
Corona del Mar High junior standout Jack Gorab said he has verbally committed to the Brown University men's soccer program.
Gorab, a defender, earned Daily Pilot Newport-Mesa Dream Team and second-team All-Pacific Coast League honors last season. He finished with nine assists and three goals, helping the Sea Kings reach the semifinals of the CIF Southern Section Division III playoffs.
"I was considering some other East Coast schools, particularly Princeton and Yale," Gorab said. "I just liked the feel of the campus [in Providence, R.I.] when I visited this past spring. Also, they're really good at soccer with a great coach and it seems like a chill school with the open curriculum."

CdM seeking coach
Corona del Mar High is still searching for a softball coach to replace John Felicetti, who stepped down during the season for personal reasons.
Athletic Director Don Grable said the school would take applications until the end of the month.
"It is our goal to have a coach in place before the end of school so that our girls can work hard this summer with our new coach to establish the new direction of our softball program," Grable said. "We have a very young team with no seniors on our roster. With eleven freshmen on this year's team and a solid group of expected incoming freshmen, we are very optimistic about the future
"With the age of most of the girls in the program, we are looking for someone who is positive and passionate in teaching our girls the skills necessary for them to compete successfully."
Those interested in the opening may e-mail a cover letter and resume with references to Grable at firstname.lastname@example.org.
