COSTA MESA — Lucas Pereira, Yahor Kryvaruchka, Robin Wagner and Garrett Gillon all won singles sets for the Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference match Tuesday at Costa Mesa Tennis Center.

The doubles teams of Pereira and Alexandre Piccin, as well as Nils Iwdal and Wagner, also won for Vanguard.

The Lions (7-13, 5-9 in conference) are ranked No. 12 nationally; Concordia is No. 8.

Orange Empire Conference Championships

FULLERTON — Sophomore Kierstin Colesen won three individual events and anchored two winning relays to share Swimmer of the Meet laurels and lead Orange Coast College to a runaway team title in the meet completed Saturday at Fullerton College.

Colesen won the 50-yard freestyle in a meet-record 23.58 seconds, won the 100 free (52.59) and the 200 free (1 minute, 56.84). She was on the winning 200 free and 200 medley relays.

Lisa MacManus won two individual events and was on three winning relays, while freshman Alyssa Schrader had two individual wins, one second-place finish and was on two winning relays.

Freshman Starlene Lara had two individual wins and was on two winning relays to help OCC amass 985.5 points, well more than runner-up Riverside's 822.

MacManus won the 50 backstroke (29.14) and the 100 back (1:01.35). MacManus, Mary Jane Cooney, Melanie Larson and Schrader comprised the 400 free relay team that posted a meet record time of 3:34.41.

Schrader won the 100 individual medley (1:01.94) and the 100 butterfly (58.64).

Lara topped the field in the 50 breaststroke (32.28) and the 100 breaststroke (1:09.62).

Sophomore Brittany Daniels was second in the 500 free and the 200 free, while sophomore Caila Poythress was second in the 100 back and was on one winning relay.

Larson, a sophomore, was third in the 50 and 100 free events and was on three winning relays, while Clooney, a sophomore, was third in the 500 free and the 200 free and was on two winning relays.

Freshman Carolyn Rohwer was second in the 50 back, sophomore Renee Hone was third in the 100 breaststroke and the 100 IM, and sophomore Elizabeth Dempsey was third in the 200 IM and was on one winning relay.

OCC's Anthony Iacopetti shared Women's Coach of the Year honors.
