The St. Margaret's girls' soccer team, which features six players from Newport Beach, won the CIF Southern Section Division VI title Friday and is still alive in the CIF State Division III regional playoffs.
St. Margaret's senior goalie Michelle Lancaster, senior defender Tory Davidson, junior forward Katie Donahue, junior defender Natalie Barbaresi and freshmen forwards Caroline Smith and Alexa Barbaresi all live in Newport Beach or CdM.
They helped the Tartans defeat San Dimas, 2-0, in the Division VI final Friday at Mission Viejo High.
Alexa Barbaresi assisted on the first goal as St. Margaret's won its first CIF title in five years.
The Tartans (27-2-1) haven't lost in 25 games after winning at Central Valley Christian of Visalia, 2-1, in overtime Tuesday in the first round of the Division III regional playoffs.
