FULLERTON — Mikah Maly-Karros scored a season-high 26 points to lead the Anteaters in the Big West Conference game Wednesday.

Maly-Karros recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 10 rebounds to go with her 26 points. Jade Smith-Williams, who was recently named Big West Player of the Week, added 10 points for UCI (10-4, 2-0 in conference), which has recorded double-digit wins for the first time since the 2002-03 squad went 17-15 overall.

RIVERSIDE — The Anteaters, ranked No. 2 in the American Volleyball Coaches Assn. preseason poll, were upset, losing in five games in the season opener Wednesday.


Cal Baptist won, 26-28, 26-24, 21-25, 25-19, 15-9.

Carson Clark led UCI with 23 kills followed by Cory Yoder with 12 kills. Anthony Spittle recorded 37 set assists and freshman libero John Caroompas III totaled 10 digs.
