College Roundup: Lions edge Westmont

Vanguard 64, Westmont 62

SANTA BARBARA — Senior Molly Pfohl led the No. 9-ranked Lions with 18 points and six rebounds in the Golden State Athletic Conference road game Tuesday.

Vanguard (8-3, 4-1 in conference) led by 20 midway through the second half, but No. 21-ranked Westmont had a chance to tie or win in the final seconds.


Chelsea Alfafara, who was four for four from three-point range, added 16 points, while Sarah Boyd had 10 points, eight steals and four assists for the winners, who remain tied for first place with The Master's and Cal Baptist.

Westmont fell to 10-3, 2-3.


Westmont 80, Vanguard 60

SANTA BARBARA — Alex Chapman had 14 points for the visiting Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Tuesday.

Chris Pynch had 12 points and Billy Thompson had 11 for Vanguard (2-11, 0-5 in conference).

Westmont is 11-3, 3-2.
