Corona del Mar 16, Troy 2

FULLERTON – The Sea Kings swept in doubles to win the CIF Southern Section Division I second-round match Saturday.

CdM's Kalika Slevcove tore ligaments in her left wrist last Sunday playing tennis, forcing her to only use one hand on her backhand this week, Coach Brian Ricker said. But that hasn't slowed her down. She is 6-0 on the week.

Against Troy, she teamed with Morgan McVey for two victories and Sami Rekoon for the last.

In singles, Lynda Xepoleas and Lauren Thaxter both won two sets before being subbed out.

CdM will play host to Peninsula Tuesday in the quarterfinals.

The Sea Kings lost to Peninsula, 13-5, Sept. 28 without Thaxter.
