Cupid, a kitten weighing less than two pounds, was raised and bottle-fed by a craftsmen "finish carpenter" named Chris Corum.

Chris, a Costa Mesa resident, has been bottle-feeding kittens for Community Animal Network for many years and says, "Cupid thinks she is a dog." She hides in a corner and waits to pounce and then rides on its back. It is the funniest thing that you'll ever see," he says.

Cupid will be seen this weekend at the Fashion Island's Pet Adoption event sponsored by Russo's pet Experience, noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. She is available for pre-adoption; which means that she could be selected but not taken home until she is spayed at the weight of just over two pounds, according to the California State Law which responsible rescue organizations follow.

Community Animal Network continues with its New Year's goal of raising $10,000 to help local animals. C.A.N. has raised $1,346 toward safeguarding its future in helping local animals.

The cost of rescue has always been high, but this is the first time that C.A.N. has not had available funds coming from pet adoption regularly to off set the need to cover the expenses by donations. The poor economy is still forcing people from their homes and more animals continue to be given up than being adopted.

Please consider supporting C.A.N. by mailing your checks to Community Animal Network, P.O. Box 8662 Newport Beach, CA, 92658 and memo your check "Help Local Animals" nonprofit tax ID 33-0971560.
