NORTH HOLLYWOOD — Taylor Cordeiro scored the game-winning goal in overtime Wednesday to lift the Sailors into the final of the L.A. Field Hockey Assn. Tournament of Champions.

Orange Coast League playoffs

Costa Mesa High girls' tennis was the odd team out and will not make the CIF Southern Section Division I playoffs, Estancia Coach Rachel de los Santos said Wednesday.

Costa Mesa, Estancia and Calvary Chapel all finished 6-4 in league, tied for second, but only the top three teams go to CIF. After a coin flip, Costa Mesa and Estancia played Saturday, and the Eagles won, 10-8, to earn the league's No. 2 seed.

De los Santos said Costa Mesa and Calvary Chapel then played Tuesday for the No. 3 seed and Calvary won, 10-8, leaving Mesa out of the playoffs. The CIF playoffs begin next week.

Sunset League finals

SEAL BEACH — Newport Harbor freshman Natalie Cernius won both of her respective rounds in singles action at the Sunset League finals at the Seal Beach Tennis Center on Wednesday.

Cernius, the No. 3 seed, advanced to today's semifinals at 1 p.m.

Fourth-seeded Blake Bakkila also won her two rounds and advanced to the semis.

The Sailors' top-seeded doubles team of Christina Young and Ricki Archie reached the semis.

Two Newport Harbor doubles teams will meet in the semis. Second-seeded Megan Bathen and Mindy Wheeler face third-seeded Riley Mathies and Alex Aiello.
