SPOKANE, Wash. — Junior forward Lexi Kopf scored two goals to lead the Anteaters in the nonconference contest Friday.

Sophomore Dana Sanderlin, senior Tanya Taylor, senior Nikki Forrest and junior Judy Christopher also scored for the Anteaters (2-1-1), who received three saves from Danielle de Seriere.

Jordan Bruce had two assists for UCI, for which Alyssa Humphrey, Jackie Samis, and Raylean Robles added assists.

Gonzaga fell to 2-2-1.

UCI visits Eastern Washington Sunday at noon.

STANFORD — UC Irvine senior outside hitters Kari Pestolesi and Juliane Piggott had eight and seven kills, respectively, in a 25-14, 25-17, 25-21 loss to Marquette Friday at the Stanford Invitational.

Marissa Alvarez had 20 assists and Kristin Winkler had 15 digs for the Anteaters (2-3), who hit .134 as a team.

Marquette is 3-1.

Concordia tournament

COSTA MESA — Vanguard University split a pair of matches Friday at the Lions' gym.

Newport Harbor High product Jamie Heenan had 12 kills and KaUwila Lavea added 10 in a 25-19, 25-18, 25-20 win over Montana Tech.

The Lions then fell, 23-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-23, 15-12, to Carroll of Montana.

Alexandra Leja had 28 assists and Ariel Strickler had 13 digs for Vanguard against Montana Tech.

Lavea had 17 kills against Carroll, followed by Lisa Heenan (13), Lisa Morgan (13) and Caitlin Segert (10).

Leja had 43 assists and Strickler had 31 digs against Carroll.

Vanguard is now 2-1.
