Pet Of The Week

Many of you may wonder why dogs are not seen as often as cats, but the truth is that Community Animal Network (CAN) has placed dogs so fast at the Fashion Island pet adoption events that they don't make the "Pet of the Week." So if you are looking for something special, you would want to sign up for the network's pet-match service, and CAN will call you when the animal's breed or breed-mix becomes available.

Dogs like Sunny, the 25-pound, 2-year-old cock-a-poo are a very popular designer breed-mix. They cost upward of $1,000 at pet stores. Sunny was given as a gift to a senior woman who can no longer care for herself. He is back with family members who are now in their 60s, and they want him to find a lifetime home with someone younger.

Sunny is a very happy dog that loves everyone. He really perked up to kids last weekend. Sunny will be back this Sunday for interested people to meet. Call (949) 759-3646, or e-mail to receive an application to be considered.

Kitten Naming Contest: "Phoebe," which in Greek means beautiful Goddess and is also the name of a bird in the Book of Romans. Runner-up: "Courage." All kittens should have equal energy playmates so CAN selected a kitten to become Phoebe's playmate and has named him "Courage."

Without your help, Community Animal Network cannot rescue animals. Please consider mailing your check to support local animals in need to Community Animal Network, P.O. Box 8662, Newport Beach, CA 92658. Tax ID # 33-0971560.
