Computer Friends is a club dedicated to helping seniors learn computer basics while enriching their creative efforts through speakers, classes and social functions. Their meeting takes place 1 p.m. today, the second Wednesday of the month, at the Central Library, 1000 Avocado Ave., Newport Beach.
The meeting topic will be "File Management of Photos" and the speaker will be Marianna Spoelder. Learn how to organize, print, e-mail, rename and view your pictures in a slide show once you have downloaded them to your computer. The speaker will be followed by Randy Langel, the club's computer expert, who will answer questions and comment on the latest developments in computer technology and the Internet. The fee is $2 and everyone is welcome.
LIONS PRESIDENTS PRESENTS AWARDS
Outgoing President Raul Jara of the Costa Mesa Newport Harbor Lions Club presented his annual awards to Sriram Vasudevan as Rookie of the Year, Bob Ooten as Most Valuable Lion and Kirk Bauermeister as Lion of the Year. According to Lion Mike Scheafer, Lion Sri was commended for his help whenever necessary and his positive attitude and enthusiasm. Lion Bob was recognized for always "being there." Lion Kirk was singled out for sponsoring eight new members, his work in the community and his commitment to the ideals of Lions International.
