Sage Hill School senior A.J. Wolfson was named the Academy League MVP in baseball for the second straight season after leading the Lightning to the semifinals of the CIF Southern Section Division VI playoffs for the first time in the program's history.
Wolfson, who shared the award last season, was one of four players from Sage Hill (20-6, 13-2 in league) to earn first-team laurels in league. The other three are senior catcher Dusty Orrantia, senior infielder Sean Vogel and sophomore second baseman Michael Yorita.
Seniors Alex Jimenez and Mo Kreitenberg made the second team for the Lightning, which finished in second place in league.
Wolfson set a single-season school record for home runs with six and batted .420 with 31 runs batted in. He scored 32 runs and had 10 doubles.
On the mound, Wolfson went 8-1 with a 2.24 earned-run average. The right-hander struck out 69 in 621/3 innings and threw one complete game.
