SAN LUIS OBISPO — Senior All-American Danny Bibona allowed one run and five hits in eight innings and became the school’s career strikeouts leader in the Big West Conference road game Friday.

Bibona struck out six and did not walk a batter. He now has 330 strikeouts as an Anteater, three more than Scott Gorgen amassed in three seasons (2006-08).

Casey Stevenson went two for five with two runs batted in and Sean Madigan was two for five with one RBI to lead the offense for UCI (28-15, 9-4 in conference).

Eric Pettis pitched the ninth for his fifth save, the 39th of his career.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

State championships

NEWPORT BEACH — The Orange Coast College doubles team of sophomore Melissa Boyer and freshman Kim Ho advanced Friday to today’s semifinals at the Tennis Club.

Boyer and Ho beat a duo from Saddleback, 6-3, 6-3, in the quarterfinals and will play today at 3:30 p.m. for a berth in the final.
