SAN DIEGO — Weston Nielsen and Joey Booth recorded 25 kills each to help Corona del Mar go 2-1 in pool play at Alliant International University Friday.
Nielsen and Booth combined for 16 kills and Parker Brown had 21 assists in a 25-20, 25-19 win over Harvard Westlake. They combined for another 16 kills and Brown had 25 assists in a 25-20, 29-27 win over Long Beach Poly.
Santa Margarita beat CdM, 18-25, 25-19, 15-13, as Nielsen and Booth combined for 18 kills. The Sea Kings advanced to the gold bracket of the tournament, which features the top 16 squads of the 32 teams.

NEWPORT BEACH — Riley Robinson and Gavin Arblaster had three goals for the Sailors in the Sunset League game Friday.
Jake Turner and Daniel Apple added two goals each for Newport (3-1, 2-0 in league).

WESTMINSTER — Senior shortstop Brandon Kelly went two for three for the Mustangs in a consolation game of the Newport Elks Tournament’s Costa Mesa bracket Friday.
Senior second baseman Brian Waldron was two for four for Mesa (2-3), which plays against Los Amigos Tuesday.
