Newport Beach city officials will not say if an off-duty police officer arrested last week on suspicion of driving drunk is being reprimanded or put on administrative leave, citing state law.
In a response to a request from the Daily Pilot, the city attorney’s office cited law dealing with revelations about personnel files, and declined to say whether Officer Monica Aguilar was put on leave following her March 5 arrest in Los Angeles County.
Aguilar, who has been with the police department since 2004 and was sworn in as a police officer in July 2008, was arrested last weekend after a California Highway Patrol officer pulled her over for tinted windows.
