The Toshiba Classic golf tournament raised $900,000 for Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, Andrea Winter, a representative for the hospital’s marketing and corporate communications, said Monday.
The annual event, which takes place during the first week of March, invites big names from the Champions Tour, who compete for cash prizes while raising money for charities.
The event at the Newport Beach Country Club is Hoag’s main fundraising vehicle.
The event also raises money for charities in Orange County and funds scholarships for students at Orange County schools.
In the past 13 years, the Toshiba Classic has raised $13 million for Hoag, Winter said.
This year, the money will go toward supporting the hospital’s five specialty areas: the Hoag Cancer Center, Hoag Heart & Vascular Institute, Hoag Neuroscience Institute, Orthopedic Services, and Women’s Health Services.
