Junior clinic coming

The Toshiba Classic in Newport Beach is a tournament known to feature great golfers who are 50 years and older. But for one day, the Toshiba Classic will also put the children in the spotlight.

The Charles Schwab Junior Clinic will take place March 6, day two of the three-day tournament at Newport Beach Country Club. The event provides young players the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of golf from some famous players. In the past, the instructors have included Fuzzy Zoeller and Andy Bean.

The junior clinic is free at the driving range at 4:30 p.m. (immediately following play on Saturday). All children 6-12 are invited to participate.

The junior clinic is part of the Charles Schwab Family Day, which will feature family discounts and activities.

The Toshiba Classic takes place March 1 through March 7, with the final three days reserved for tournament play, at Newport Beach Country Club.
