82, a 40 year resident of
Newport Beach, passed
away in The Woodlands,
TX after a brief illness on
February 19, 2010.
Born in Cleveland,
Ohio in 1927 to Harold and
Sara Hoskins Roy graduated
from the University of
Minnesota in 1953 after
serving in the US Navy
during WWII and the
Korean War. After graduation Roy worked for Honeywell
for several years before beginning a 32 year career at IBM
in Newport Beach, CA. Roy also worked at AST Research
in Irvine, CA for 9 years after taking an early retirement
from IBM.
Roy was an avid fan of NASCAR and professional
football. However, his greatest love, besides his wife Lynda,
was sailing. Roy owned his own sailboat for many years and
was a veteran of several Newport to Ensenada and Transpac
races. Roy loved the camaraderie of the Tuesday night races
in the bay during the summer, and you could always find him
at breakfast every Sunday at the Galley Cafe.
Roy is survived by his wife of 34 years Lynda, his son
Michael Boscon and daughter-in-law Dr. Alice Speer, his
daughter Wendy Boscon Southard and son-in-law Jonathan
Southard, and his son Mark Hoskins and daughter-in-law
Sherrie Hoskins. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-
law Jack and Bonnie Hoskins as well as his grandchildren
Christopher Hoskins and his wife GeriAnne, and
Heather Hoskins.

A memorial service will be held Friday February
26, 2010 at 4pm at Forest Park -The Woodlands Funeral
Home, The Woodlands, TX 77384. In lieu of flowers the
family requests that donations be made in Roy’s name to the
American Heart Association.
