It would appear — at least by a sign out front — that Tesla Motors, a relatively new sports car company that makes electric automobiles, could be coming to Newport Beach.
The sign publicizing this information is posted in front of the former “Newport European” dealership across from the Balboa Bay Club and Resort near Dover Drive.
Although the “European” portion of the lettering has since been removed, the word “Newport” still remains.
A Tesla spokeswoman, Khobi Brooklyn, would neither confirm nor deny the possibility of a dealership coming to Newport Beach.
She did say, however, that the company is in the midst of finding a production facility in Southern California.
“We’ve been talking about setting up a production facility in Southern California for the last six months, but nothing has happened yet,” she said.
